Perfect for Last-Minute Shopping (If You Can Handle the Bargaining!) Souk El Had in Agadir is absolutely perfect for last-minute shopping before heading home. There’s so much to see — and so many goodies to buy — that we actually had to go back to the cash machine twice because we kept finding more things we wanted! Be prepared, though: you’ll need nerves of steel when it comes to negotiating prices, and you will be called over by pretty much every seller you walk past. It’s all part of the experience, and once you get into the rhythm of bargaining, it becomes fun. Cash machines are conveniently located right outside the market, which is a lifesaver. A busy, colourful, slightly chaotic, but overall fantastic place to shop!
We were on a long cruise from Lisbon and one of the stops was Agadir. We took a tour of the city and one stop was Souk El Had, the Sunday market. We were not there on Sunday so most shops were closed but it was quite interesting anyway. Lots of activity everywhere. This was a nice stop and well worth the cost of the tour.
Not as crowded or bothersome as I expected. Of course you can buy anything from fruit to furniture, but as a backpacking tourist I was mainly interested in the bijouteries (little jewellery shops), clothing stores, fruit stalls and mint tea. Pleasant friendly people, feels very safe, and a good place to try your hand at haggling. Worth a visit, expect to pay around 40 - 50dh for an orange cab to get there from the tourist hotels
Souk El Had in Agadir is absolutely amazing! It’s the largest and oldest market/souk in Africa and you can find almost anything you’re looking for,from fresh produce and spices to clothes, handicrafts, and souvenirs. A vibrant place full of colors, energy, and local charm. Definitely a must-visit when in Agadir!
A very well-known market and definitely worth a visit. Inside you’ll find countless stalls – ranging from typical souvenirs to truly valuable handmade items. There’s also a large section with fresh fruits, vegetables, and an impressive variety of spices. The people here are very friendly and much less pushy than expected. Overall, a great atmosphere and highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience local culture and markets.
