Enjoy a hands-on culinary experience in Porto focused on Portuguese tapas known as Tapiscos. The experience begins with a guided visit to Mercado de Bolhão where guests can taste sample and purchase fresh local ingredients. After the market tour there is a short walk to Boutique Maison Canto de Luz where participants enjoy coffee and a chef-led cooking demonstration. Guests then cook the dishes themselves following instructions and tips from the chef. After preparing their plates everyone sits together to enjoy the fruits of their labor accompanied by a glass of Douro Valley wine while sharing stories and culinary insights with new friends. Each participant receives a recipe goodie bag and a travel-friendly bottle of aguardente to take home as a souvenir and to recreate dishes later.
The experience combines culture gastronomy and social interaction in a relaxed and scenic setting. Attendees aged sixteen and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Additional wine is available for purchase and aprons may be bought for the class. The menu changes seasonally ensuring a fresh and unique experience each time. The short walk from the market to the kitchen takes about ten minutes and gives guests the chance to explore Porto’s streets while carrying their fresh ingredients. This immersive activity offers participants a complete culinary adventure from sourcing ingredients to cooking tasting and taking home Portuguese flavors to enjoy later.
