Definitely one of the most unusual attractions I’ve been to in Europe, Salina Turda is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Cluj area. The site is an easy walk from Turda town centre, although it was raining when we visited so we took a cheap taxi (I believe there is a shuttle bus too). You have to walk down quite a lengthy walkway to get to the main chamber of the salt mine - bring some warm clothing with you because it’s quite chilly once you’re in there. The sheer scale and magnitude of the main chamber are quite overpowering and provide an atmosphere which is rather eerie and daunting. There are lifts down to the bottom, but stairs are also an option. Boats can be rented on the lake, for an additional cost.

Not as impressive as some other mines i've seen but the setup inside is quite unique and still worth a visit and a good short trip from Cluj. The lighting and the lake were unique aspects of this mine. I spent a total of 1.5 hrs in the mine at a relaxed pace it's enough to see everything. Easy directions from Cluj: Take the Fany bus from Pod Traian (search it in Maps). Buses depart thrice an hour and cost 14 lei. Upon reaching Turda you can walk 20 minutes to the old entrance (search Salina Turda old entrance on maps). Once you get into the mine from the old entrance note that there is a 8 minute walk through a long passageway to get to the central part of the mine. When returning from Turda to Cluj you can catch the Fany bus back at "Fany bus (Turda Centru)" in Google Maps. It's at the northern edge of Piata Republica.

Salina Turda is something that we were waiting for a long time and it did not dissappoint us. It is truly a spectacular place, with beautifully colored walls. The inside part is really enormous with lots of stairs to climb. You can also use the elevator but it's made just for 4 people, so you will have to wait quite a long time to get in. You can also take a boat and ride on the lake, it costs just few lei and it's amazing. Outside the mine is a quite large parking place (5 lei per hour). The only thing missing in the mine was some nice souvenir shop. There is something like that inside but they don't have much stuff.

Amazing place! We payed around 13€ and it was definitely worth it. A lot of places to sit and enjoy. There is a big line for the elevator up but the stairs aren’t that bad at all. The only problem is to get back to Turda without car, but there is a bus few times a day.

A unique and impressive underground attraction. Clean, therapeutic air, beautiful salt formations, a lot of stairs and fun activities like a Ferris wheel and boat rides. A must-see in Romania!
