Discover the Majestic Cascading Waterfalls and Ancient Woodlands of Croatia's Famous Plitvice Lakes National Park

Embark on a private day excursion from Split to the breathtaking Plitvice Lakes, a premier destination recognized globally as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This journey offers a seamless escape into the heart of the Croatian countryside, allowing travelers to bypass the typical summer entrance queues. The adventure begins with a scenic three-hour drive through picturesque landscapes, providing the perfect opportunity to enjoy a morning coffee while transitioning from the coastal city to the lush interior.

Upon arrival at the national park, an expert guide leads the way through the serene ancient woodlands that surround the crystal-clear water bodies. The walking path winds gracefully across the upper lakes, offering intimate views of the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this protected environment. This immersive experience allows visitors to fully appreciate the geological significance and natural beauty of the region while learning about the complex ecosystem that sustains these famous interconnected lakes.

The exploration continues with a tranquil boat trip designed to transport visitors toward the lower lakes, where the true scale of the park becomes apparent. Here, guests witness the sheer majesty of the iconic seventy-eight-meter-high Plitvice waterfalls, which thunder down into the basins below. The combination of the boat ride and the walking tour ensures that every participant experiences the most dramatic vantage points of the park, capturing the essence of this spectacular natural wonder.

This private tour is designed to provide a personal touch, blending educational insights with a relaxed atmosphere that encourages lasting memories. By focusing on the unique geography and the historical context of the park, the experience goes beyond simple sightseeing to offer a deeper connection with nature. My wife and I booked the "Best of Croatia and Slovenia 14-day Tour" with Croatia Private Tours, and we had a fantastic trip. Miro was our driver/guide for most of the trip, supplemented by local guides in most of the specific locations. Miro was outstanding and provided a lot of insight into the countries, culture, more recent history (life in former Yugoslavia, the war years, and transitioning to the independent countries and their approximately 30-year history since independence. We feel like Miro became a special friend. Damir was our driver/guide from Split to Dubrovnik and was also excellent. This tour provided more in-depth experiences and the ability and flexibility to see a lot more than with a larger group tour. The tour was in a new small van, which was extremely comfortable. The pricing was also an excellent value. We so enjoyed our entire trip, and loved the countries and people, and the beautiful and varied sites we visited. We would highly recommend Croatia Private Tours and a visit to this beautiful part of the world!!

We are a group of 4, booking a 13 day private tour covering Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia from 14 to 26Sep. It was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The tour coordinator was incredibly accommodating, tailoring the itinerary to suit our preferences. He patiently addressed all our many questions and provided thoughtful advice—even before we confirmed the booking. From our arrival at Zagreb airport to our departure from Dubrovnik, everything was seamlessly arranged, making the entire journey smooth and hassle-free. A special mention goes to Kruno, our amazing driver. He was not only highly knowledgeable about the terrain but also shared rich insights into the region’s history and culture. Kruno consistently went above and beyond—taking us to excellent local restaurants for dinner, staying beyond his working hours, and accommodating requests outside the planned itinerary. He never rushed us and always allowed us extra time whenever we needed it. His professionalism, patience, and genuine care made our trip completely stress-free and thoroughly enjoyable. We truly felt well looked after throughout the journey. Additionally, we had fantastic local guides at each destination who were both engaging and informative. We highly recommend Croatia Private Tours to anyone planning a visit to Croatia and the Balkans. It was a memorable and enriching experience that exceeded all our expectations.

We had a truly wonderful experience with Croatia Private Tours. Throughout our journey, we learned so much about the rich history of the Balkans, met wonderful people, and saw many beautiful places. The company provided excellent service across Slovenia, Croatia, and even a day trip to Bosnia. Our driver was outstanding—knowledgeable about the terrain (including significant parts of the Julian Alps), professional, and always helpful. His driving skills and thoughtful guidance made the trip not only enjoyable but also stress-free. We are very grateful for such an unforgettable experience and highly recommend Croatia Private Tours!
