Mont-Saint-Michel Full Day Group Tour

Mont Saint Michel is one of the most visited landmarks in France and a major site in Normandy. Its origins date back to the year seven hundred eight when Bishop Aubert of Avranches established a sanctuary dedicated to Saint Michel. Over time it grew into an important pilgrimage destination for Christians from around the world and became a center of learning with monks copying and preserving manuscripts.

During the nineteenth century the site lost importance and was later used as a prison after the French Revolution. From seventeen ninety three to eighteen sixty three it earned the name Bastille of the sea and fell into decline due to neglect. Fortunately it was restored by architects and preserved for future generations. Today it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains a remarkable example of medieval architecture surrounded by stunning coastal scenery.
