The day begins at Vellir Farm, where Icelandic horses are prepared for a scenic ride through open countryside framed by mountains and wide fields. Guided by experienced instructors, guests travel along calm trails while experiencing the smooth tölt gait unique to the breed. The ride emphasizes comfort and accessibility, with horses carefully matched to each rider’s experience level, ensuring a steady and enjoyable introduction to Iceland’s rural scenery.

After the ride, participants enjoy a light lunch at Hótel Eldhestar before continuing into the nearby Hengill volcanic region. The afternoon hike leads into the Reykjadalur valley, a geothermal area known for steaming hot springs, colorful mineral-stained hillsides, and naturally heated streams. The landscape reflects Iceland’s active geology, where heat from beneath the earth shapes both terrain and atmosphere.

The experience concludes with a restorative soak in the warm river of Reykjadalur, followed by refreshments at the Eldhestar riding center. With transportation, guidance, and essential equipment included, the tour is designed for both comfort and safety.
