We had our Tour Fatima last 23-24 Mar 2022. Tour guide Majd, an Omani local, was exceptional! We definitely recommend him as a guide. He did not only show us the culture and beauty of Oman, he showed us what Omanis really are: humble, hospitable, hard-working, and patriots. We visited Bimmah sinkhole, Wadi Shab, Wadi Tiwi, Ras Al Hadd turtle sanctuary, dhow factory and many more. More than that, we camped in the sur. Majd was really hands-on throughout the camp! He was also truly supportive in the wadis whenever we had difficulties in the hike and swimming. He was very knowledgeable about every place. He would explain bits of history even in the areas that you pass by in the road. If you have a plan to take any package from Oman Day Tours, we 100% recommend Majd. No doubt you will have a fantastic Oman experience.

We booked in for both Wahiba Sands and Jabal Shams day tours. Apart from a few changes we made to pickup point and date of tour that obviously didn´t get a 100 percent through to Oman Day Tours headoffice everything was very well organized. Our guide Muath was a wonderful person, full with stories on Omani daily life, on landscapes, vegetation, on food, on driving aso. Our kids loved him - and he cared to a max to our needs. Lunches at local restaurants, beverage supply - everything was perfect! So the „guide side" deserved 5 stars „plus". Unfortunately, we missed out the dune bashing in Wahiba Sands, but did some nice camel riding, and as the money for that stays with the locals, we had no problem with being too „touristy". We knew that it would be a long drive into the desert; having read the tour description BEFORE booking quite well... its all in there! Thank you for two perfect days. Note: GOOGLE, pls improve photo upload tool immediately!

This is a review of the tour Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid. First things first: our guide - Hamuud - was great! He was friendly, knowledgeable and very caring. He bought us refreshments and even invited us to his place for tea! About the tour: one spends too much time on the road - about 6h. The overall balance between the time spend on the road and in the venues is far from ideal. The Wahiba sands are indeed beautiful and surely worth of a day(s) trip! However, this specific tour, because of the time restrictions, only provides a glimpse of the beauty and awesomeness of these dunes. There is some considerable amount of rubbish, mainly plastic, laying around. We were told the camels are responsible for this, as they graze through the rubbish bins and throw the plastic out. To better enjoy the dunes and the desert, we recommend one of the tours that cross the desert down to Oman’s south coast. Regarding the wadi Bani Khalid, we wrote a separate review.

We arrived in Oman and decided to book this day trip in order to see more of the beautiful landscape in this country. We did only book the afternoon before the scheduled morning of departure, but we were assured quite soon by SMS that our booking was confirmed for the next day with an early 8am departure from our hotel. After a no show at 8, and a phone call to the organizer to follow up, at 9.15am our driver-guide turns up. He is professional and very friendly throughout the day's experience and the hours on the road were fine as we were fully expecting to spend the majority of our time in the car. In our case, the driver was very helpful but not a guide in any sense. The tour description as advertised is wrong. Here's what we saw instead of the description: - Nizwa fort and Souq - Fanja Souq - Ghul ruins - good viewpoint of Ghul What we did not see was Jebel Shams. Once we started the tour, our driver mentioned that there were two peaks- the first one is Jebel Shams and the second one is Jebel Al Akhdar. He mentioned that if we wanted to do Jebel Shams it would be a "4-hour hike" to reach the summit and that Al Akhdar has more things to see and do for tourists. While we appreciated his advice and flexibility, we found the advert very misleading as it didn't mention a hike, and as such we were unprepared and short of time due to the 75-minute late start. Sadly, due to an unforeseen accident (which closed the only mountain road) we could not even go up to Jebel Al Akhdar, but our driver instead took us round to Old Muscat and Mutrah for a quick tour instead. This was greatly appreciated. Due to the late departure and change of plan, we missed the chance to buy ourselves lunch at a restaurant. However our driver was thoughtful and bought us some snacks to keep us going throughout the day. We recommend Oman Day Tours to update their advertisement with correct itinerary, and either not accept bookings the day before so they can organise drivers, or improve communication around delays.

Guide was good, but tour operator sent only drivers, not guides for each car, while insisting they were guides. Aside from that itinerary was unrealistic and drivers didn’t know the way and had to ask for directions. Restaurant for lunch was quite mediocre and guide wasn’t appraised of the fact that lunch was included. In summary, the elements, guide, cars, and drivers, were good, but coordination by the travel agency and clarity on what would happen and what was and was not not included was poor.
