Explore the medieval towns natural landscapes and volcanic heritage of the Garrotxa region on a full day tour from Girona. The journey begins with a visit to Besalu a historic town known for its impressive Romanesque bridge crossing the Fluvia River. With its angular arches and defensive tower the bridge reflects the importance of the town during the medieval period. Visitors will walk through the charming streets and learn about the rich cultural heritage including the remains of the historic Jewish quarter and one of the most significant medieval mikveh baths in Europe.

The tour continues to Castellfollit de la Roca a spectacular village built on a dramatic basalt cliff overlooking the valleys of two rivers. From this viewpoint guests can admire one of the most photographed landscapes in Catalonia. The journey then moves into the volcanic area of Garrotxa where a short walk leads to the hermitage of Santa Margarida located inside the crater of an extinct volcano. After visiting the medieval town of Santa Pau and enjoying time for lunch the tour finishes at Lake Banyoles the largest natural lake in Catalonia where visitors can relax on a quiet ecological boat ride or enjoy a scenic walk around the lake.
