Historic Steamship Wreck Offers Technical Divers a Deep Mediterranean Challenge

Technical diving enthusiasts are being invited to explore the remains of the historic steamship Perim, a remarkable wreck resting deep beneath the Mediterranean Sea. Accessible only by boat, the site offers an advanced underwater adventure that combines maritime history, challenging diving conditions, and thriving marine ecosystems.

Built during the late nineteenth century, the Perim sank following a collision with another merchant vessel, leaving behind a striking underwater monument to a bygone era of maritime trade. Today, the wreck stretches for more than 70 metres across a sandy and muddy seabed, with its prominent funnel still visible, providing divers with an impressive glimpse into the ship's final resting place.

Situated at depths ranging from approximately 56 to 62 metres, the site is reserved for suitably qualified technical divers capable of safely operating in deep-water conditions. Visibility can vary depending on weather and sea conditions, but favourable days reveal intricate structural details and allow divers to fully appreciate the scale and historical significance of the vessel.
