SSI SEARCH & RECOVERY

Learn the practical skills needed to locate and recover lost objects underwater with the SSI Search and Recovery specialty course. This program introduces divers to effective underwater search techniques used in many real diving situations. During the course participants learn how to organize a search dive plan communicate clearly with dive partners and apply safe procedures when searching underwater environments.

The one day course runs from morning until early afternoon followed by a short exam session later in the day. Participants complete two training dives where they practice different search patterns and recovery techniques while working in a dive team. Training also covers the use of specialized equipment such as lift bags lines and reels to safely recover objects from the seabed. With guidance from experienced instructors divers build confidence and develop strong teamwork skills. After completing the course participants receive the SSI Search and Recovery Specialty certification.
