Your journey begins at 08:00 am with a scenic drive across the majestic High Atlas Mountains towards the historic village of Ait Benhaddou. This ancient ksar, once a vital stop for caravan traders, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular filming location for international movies like Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. After exploring the village and enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to Ouarzazate, famously known as the “Hollywood of North Africa” for its bustling film studios. From there, you'll travel through the lush and fragrant Roses Valley, renowned for its Damask rose harvest and annual festival. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Boumalne Dades, nestled in a valley surrounded by striking rock formations and greenery.
After breakfast, the adventure continues toward the Sahara Desert. Along the way, you'll stop at the dramatic Todgha Gorges, often referred to as Morocco's Grand Canyon, where towering cliffs rise dramatically above a clear mountain stream. After lunch, the route leads to Erfoud, a town famous for its fossil workshops and marble crafts, before reaching Merzouga on the edge of the desert. Here, you'll mount your camel for a one-hour trek into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at a Berber desert camp just in time for sunset. The evening unfolds with a hearty Moroccan dinner, traditional music, and stargazing around the campfire. After an early sunrise camel ride and breakfast at the lodge, you'll have time to freshen up or enjoy a quick swim before the return journey. The drive back to Marrakech includes a stop in Ouarzazate for lunch and continues through the High Atlas Mountains, with arrival in the city around 7:00 pm, marking the end of this unforgettable 3-day desert adventure.
