Skywaukee Tour

As you stroll through these connected walkways, you will learn about important Milwaukee landmarks, notable buildings, and the stories that shaped the downtown area. The tour also highlights the rich Indigenous history of Milwaukee, sharing meaningful insights into early communities, influential figures, and significant events that helped shape the city’s cultural heritage. Along the way, guests will also hear about the transformation and redevelopment of the historic Grand Avenue Mall into the vibrant Third Street Market Hall and The Avenue, showcasing how historic spaces can be thoughtfully reimagined for modern use.

The experience is led by a trained volunteer docent who shares detailed knowledge and engaging stories throughout the tour, creating an informative and enjoyable atmosphere for participants. Guests will walk a comfortable distance while exploring indoor pathways and viewing parts of the city from a unique elevated perspective. Due to ongoing construction projects in the downtown area, access to certain skywalk sections may occasionally be limited, particularly on weekends. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for parking and check-in at the meeting point located inside the atrium at West Wisconsin Avenue in front of TJ Maxx. Street parking and nearby parking garages are available. Comfortable footwear is recommended for walking, and guests are invited to relax and enjoy this cozy indoor exploration of Milwaukee’s architecture, history, and urban development.
