Full Day Dog Sled Safari Reveals Lapland’s Arctic Wilderness

A full day dog sled safari in Lapland is offering visitors an immersive journey across frozen marshes, lakes, and forest landscapes, showcasing one of the oldest forms of Arctic transport. The experience begins at a farmhouse where guests are greeted by the sound of eager sled dogs and the crisp atmosphere of the snowy wilderness.

Participants are introduced to their dog teams after meeting pups and non working adult dogs, learning about their care and daily life. Guests then take control of their own sleigh, guided into the basics of mushing as the dogs lead them across vast stretches of untouched snow with power and precision.

The route includes a scenic crossing of Lake Ounasjarvi, where thick ice creates a safe pathway toward the southern shores. Along the way, views of Ounastunturi and nearby national park landscapes provide a dramatic backdrop of Finland’s winter environment.

Midway through the journey, guests stop at a traditional lakeside mokki for rest, assistance with the dogs, and optional snowshoe walks.
