We booked the Douro Valley Wine Tasting experience through our hotel. It was a wonderful experience. Our guide Thelma and driver Alfonse were both excellent. Both were very knowledgeable about Portugues history and wine. They answered all our questions and explained where we were going and what we were seeing. Both have a great sense of humor and were a pleasure to spend the day with. The tour itself was very worthwhile. The stop in Pinhão to take the river tour on the Douro was great. It gives you a different perspective of the various terraced vineyards you won’t get otherwise. Our stops at the two quintas provided us with the opportunity to see how the wines are made and to learn more about the history of port wines. We also sampled some of their wines and olive oils. The stop for lunch provided us with a nice meal (the fish was very good) and a spectacular view from the top of the valley. This is an excellent tour where you not only learn about the wines, but you get to see a different, beautiful part of Portugal outside of a major city like Porto,

This tour was really outstanding! The guide was lovely and she took us on the most wonderfull day ever! Douro is not only about the wine, but the people and the culture... the guide gave us all the information about the wineries, the region and of course the vinyeards but the best part was really tasting the wine and the Olive oils! Amazing! 100% reccommend

It was a wonderful trip to the beautiful Douro Valley. We had a fantastic day filled with memorable experiences, delicious food, plenty of wine tastings, and fascinating tours of local wineries. Telma was one of the best tour guides I've ever had. She is incredibly knowledgeable, sharing a wealth of history and fascinating background stories about the region, the wine industry, and Portugal in general. She took genuine care of everyone in the group and was especially attentive to me—applying ice packs several times after I accidentally bumped my forehead while boarding the bus (so please be careful and avoid making the same clumsy mistake I did!). I feel really fortunate to have chosen this tour and to have met her.

In the low season this ended up being a private tour, and was well worth the money. Pedro was an excellent tour guide and we would not have seen as much of Duoro valley if we had just taken the train. Response published
