We attended an autism-friendly session for my brother’s birthday. We were told when booking that the session was inclusive and suitable for everyone. Unfortunately, a staff member (young woman with pink hair) was extremely rude and confrontational towards me, accused me of things I wasn’t doing, and repeatedly threatened to “check the cameras.” I could also hear her talking about me to coworkers, which was very uncomfortable. This was meant to be a supportive, inclusive environment, especially for an autism-friendly session, but the experience was stressful and disappointing. Staff professionalism and respect seriously need improving.
Inclusive on Paper, Unwelcoming in Reality We attended an autism-friendly session as a birthday celebration for a family member with autism who loves trampolines. We booked this specific session because it advertised reduced noise, fewer participants, and a calmer environment — which we felt would be more suitable and supportive. We were attending with him as his family to celebrate his birthday. At no point during the booking process was it made clear that the autism-friendly session was only intended for people with autism and not for their family members. Our understanding — and what we were led to believe when purchasing the vouchers — was that the session was inclusive, with accommodations specifically designed to support people with autism, not to exclude others who were there to support them. When we arrived, it became apparent that staff believed only the person with autism should be attending, and that additional family members without autism should not have been there. This was extremely uncomfortable, particularly as we were supporting someone with autism and had booked the session in good faith. One female staff member spent close to 20 minutes telling us that we had “done it wrong,” without clearly explaining what the issue was or what our options were. The communication was confusing, unhelpful, and left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome before we had even entered the activity. Eventually, we were told we would be “allowed in this time,” despite the fact that none of these rules were clearly stated online or explained at the point of purchase. An autism-friendly session should feel supportive, understanding, and welcoming. Instead, we felt judged and out of place for accompanying someone we were there to support. The experience was disappointing and could have been completely avoided with clearer information and better communication. There was also confusion around socks being included with our voucher. To be fair, one male member of staff was excellent and stepped in to clarify this correctly. He was the only person who handled the situation calmly and professionally. Once inside, we were extremely mindful of younger children, keeping our distance and often not jumping at all. Despite this, we were told there had been “multiple complaints “ about us and were repeatedly challenged for things we simply were not doing. On at least one occasion, we were accused of jumping on an area we were not on — something that would be obvious if checked on CCTV. Being repeatedly questioned like this made us feel singled out. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable and upsetting. What should have been a supportive, inclusive session instead felt judgmental and hostile. The lack of clear information during booking, combined with poor communication and how we were spoken throughout our time there, completely overshadowed the visit. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed, and it’s not an experience we would choose to repeat.
Never had a bad experience here. We usually come to the toddler takeover. Which is only for children ages 1-6 starts at 9am till 10am every morning. Great craic. For myself my partner and my child including socks it costs €28. Kid loves the place. Only thing I would say is if it rains some of the trampolines get a bit damp even though it’s indoors it’s also a little chilly
