Ultimate is fantastic! We had an excellent experience with Jill and Charlie, they made it fun, educational and just awesome. Jill is an expert at boat driving, and especially at finding whales. The team really explained what we saw- a competition group plus a “mugging” which meant whales were 10-20 feet from our boat for about an hour. So much fun. While not every tour can be so lucky, I recommend this group big time. They are very well organized, and fun to be around.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We went out with **Maui Dive & Whale Watching** and had an awesome experience from start to finish. One of the coolest parts is that they use **smaller boats**, which makes a *huge* difference. You’re much closer to the water, closer to the action, and it feels far more personal than being packed onto a big tour boat. It honestly feels more like a private adventure than a tourist attraction. The crew was **excellent** — knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. They actively **search for the whales**, explain what to look for, and once they find them, they position the boat so you get an incredible view without disturbing the animals. We saw **tons of whales** — surfacing, tail slaps, and lots of movement right near the boat. We didn’t catch any full breaches this time, but being that close and watching them move through the water was still absolutely amazing. The **boats themselves are very nice**, well-maintained, and comfortable, and the staff made sure everyone felt safe and taken care of the entire time. If you’re going whale watching in Maui and want something that feels **up close, authentic, and well-run**, Maui Dive & Whale Watching is an easy recommendation. We’d absolutely do it again.
If I could give 50 stars I would. Countless numbers of breaches, flukes everywhere. Lillian and kaylee were phenomenal. So much fun but also full of a lot of education. They were always respectful of the whales distance but gave us a great view. Would do this tour everyday of the trip. This has been on my bucket list since I was little watching documentaries on PBS of whales. Worth every penny. Obsessed. DO IT.
