This seven to eight-hour tour takes you to one of the most unique and photogenic rock formations in the Kanab area, covering approximately one square mile of swirling, colorful terrain often referred to as “Brain Rock.” The vibrant red, orange, and yellow rocks create a surreal landscape that feels otherworldly, almost like stepping onto the surface of Mars. Recently, these formations gained widespread attention as one of the wallpaper options on Apple devices. Unlike other popular destinations such as the Wave, no permit is required, making this an accessible yet equally spectacular alternative. The route includes stretches of deep sand, but high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles and experienced guides ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Along the way, the tour often stops near the California Condors’ release site on the Vermillion Cliffs, where guests can observe these magnificent birds in their natural habitat.

The tour is designed to be flexible and convenient, with pickup available from local Kanab accommodations, or a meeting point at the Coral Cliffs Tours office. Guests coming from Page can also meet at the House Rock Valley Road and Highway 89 junction parking area. The roundtrip hike ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 miles depending on how much you choose to explore, with mostly flat terrain along sand and some uneven rock sections. There are a few opportunities to climb rocks and boulders for better views. Guests are advised to wear hiking shoes, bring layered clothing suitable for varying temperatures, sun protection, water for the hike, and lunch or snacks that travel well on bumpy roads. The combination of vibrant scenery, wildlife spotting, and guided off-road adventure makes this tour an unforgettable experience for photography enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers alike.

We started out with an hour ride to meet up with 2 more passengers which was the start of an hour and half off road ride with some rain. Arrived at our destination and the rain cooperated for the time we were there wondering to seeing the sites with our guide. Every site we were taken to was more amazing than what we had just seen. The guide was helpful, friendly and informative. I would love to go back.

Keny was excellent teammate and guide. He is very well familiar with the area. Ha had lots of anecdotes and stories to share. He provided great pointers to take pictures and allowed everyone to enjoy the canyon with their own pace.

Out of this world experience here! We hired a tour company to bring us here due to the deep sand and fear of getting lost or stuck. It was worth it all. You’ll never see anything like this anywhere else. Just be careful coming out and must have a 4x4 high clearance vehicle. It was one of the best photographic adventures I’ve had here. Coming back with a drone.

Absolutely unreal landscape — White Pocket feels like another planet! Swirling sandstone in red, white, and orange creates jaw-dropping formations you won’t see anywhere else. It’s BLM-managed and free to visit, but getting there is a real off-road challenge — you must have a high-clearance 4x4 or book a guided tour.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Believe the warnings in regard to having a high clearance 4x4, it's really deep sand getting there, and getting rescued could be a nightmare.

An amazing geological formation. I'm glad it takes a 4x4 to get there, it really helps to keep the traffic low. It is a short sandy walk from the trailhead parking lot to the formation. You are free to roam around the entire formation, just please be respectful of the ecosystem. Bring lots of water, it can get very hot. The sun can be very bright. We went in early October and the temperatures still were reaching high 90s, low 100s. Talking to a local guide that has a lot of experience at White Pockets, says February is his most favorite time. There are beautiful primitive campsites and very dark night skies great for star gazing. The drive getting there is beautiful. The Vermillion Cliffs are amazing. Don't forget to stop at the Condor viewing station. When we were there, they had just released four young condors into the wild.

I can’t describe enough how beautiful it is you need to see with your own eyes. All I can tell you it’s worth to drive on deep soft sand and loose rocks road to see all those rocks formations. You definitely need 4WD to get there.
