Nightly Observing Program

Experience an unforgettable evening at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Tucson Arizona with the Nightly Observing Program. Begin with a visit to the Visitor Center to explore exhibits about the observatory and astronomy. After a light meal, enjoy a docent led introduction to the night sky and learn how to identify stars and constellations. From nearly seven thousand feet above sea level, watch a colorful sunset before stepping into the dark skies for guided stargazing using high powered binoculars and a telescope inside one of the domes.

This four and a half hour program runs year round and is designed for adults and older children. A minimum of four guests is required for the program to operate. Warm layered clothing and closed toe shoes are essential due to cold summit temperatures. In case of unfavorable weather, an alternate astronomy program may be offered. Guests will receive a weather update email at noon on the day of the program. International visitors should carry passports due to a border checkpoint along the route. Prices displayed do not include fees, and refunds are not offered for changing weather conditions.
