The March Break Farm and Forest School at Jireh Hills Family Homestead is a hands-on learning experience for children to explore a working farm. The program runs on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 10AM to 2PM, with optional after-hours care until 3PM. Students will interact with dairy goats, learning to hand milk mama goats and enjoy outside recess in their pasture. The day also includes a horse training demonstration showing ground work and horse communication with Winchester, the farm’s largest horse. Children will help feed the kunekune pigs and take part in bringing them to their pasture, weather permitting. Alpacas will be visited for treat feeding and fibre exploration. After lunch, students will explore woodland trails and participate in survival and team-building activities, including shelter building. The program is limited to twelve students per day to ensure personalized learning, and parents may optionally stay with their children. Children under five must have an adult present.
This interactive day encourages curiosity, problem solving, and practical farm skills while engaging children in physical and creative learning. Students gain experience in animal care, outdoor exploration, and team collaboration. Optional after-hours care allows children to enjoy a story-time and interactive bunny circle. The experience promotes a love of nature and sustainability while teaching real-world skills on a diversified farm. Families benefit from small class sizes and flexible adult participation options, ensuring a safe and enriching environment.
