The Spring Season Farm and Forest School at Jireh Hills Family Homestead is an eight week program designed for children to learn on a diversified working farm. Classes begin on Thursday, April 10, 2026, and run every Thursday from 10AM to 2PM. The program is led by a qualified secondary school teacher with extensive homeschooling and homesteading experience. Children will participate in hands-on activities including milking goats, raising baby goats, horse training and communication, alpaca fibre dyeing, team-building in the woodlands, and other engaging farm and forest lessons. The school is limited to twelve students per day to ensure personalized attention, and parents may optionally stay with their children. Drop-in options are available for single days. The program encourages outdoor learning, so students should dress appropriately for the weather. Each student should bring a backpack with extra socks and warm clothing, along with a BYO lunch and water bottle. Washroom facilities are available on-site.
This program combines practical farm skills with creative and social learning in a natural setting. Students gain confidence in animal care, outdoor exploration, and teamwork while learning about sustainable farming practices. Activities are tailored to different age groups, including babies and non-walkers, ensuring that all children can engage safely. The experience promotes curiosity, responsibility, and a love of nature and agriculture. Families benefit from flexible pricing options including large family rates and optional additional adults. By participating, children develop hands-on skills and a deeper connection to food, animals, and the environment in a fun and supportive community setting.
