Kiting for Kids

This kids kiteboarding program is designed to provide a fun and safe introduction to kite flying and water sports for children aged five to twelve. Younger kids focus on basic kite flying skills on land, learning about wind, kite control, safety systems, and proper kite etiquette. Older children progress through ground school, tandem body drags, and eventually solo runs or beginner board sessions when they are ready. Lessons are structured to match each child’s ability and attention span, with group and private sessions available. Siblings, friends, and family members can participate together, creating a fun and supportive environment. Children are supervised at all times, and active support from parents or older family members is encouraged until students gain sufficient experience to be independent.

Action Sports Maui provides certified IKO instructors who use industry respected teaching systems to ensure safety and effective skill development. Lessons are tailored to each child’s pace, with emphasis on confidence, safety, and enjoyment. Equipment is provided for all sessions, and students can choose private or group lessons. The program is ideal for children who want to develop a solid foundation in kiteboarding while having fun and building a positive relationship with the ocean. Lessons are available Monday through Saturday, with no sessions on Sundays or public holidays. Students can also connect with the IKO International School Network to continue learning at sister schools worldwide, making this an excellent starting point for a lifelong sport.
