Very easy and well accessible hiking trail. The markings are very clear and easy to follow. Amazing nature and clean trail.
I cannot recommend doing this hike enough 2.5h before sunset. Look at those colours! It was incredible. I was also totally alone which at Xmas is a rare treat on the trails! Did it in just under 2h at pace so definitely don’t rush. When you come back to the car park you’ll have time to watch the sun set over Gomera (not going to lie, along with 100s of tourists who were driven to that point by buses and vans!) if you can, park your car along the road, not at the car park - the cars in the parking lot were blocked by the buses and vans and were unable to leave for about an hour.
Crikey. Where to start. This was quite something. And by 'something' I am referring to the hike itself. I know what you're thinking - why didn't I start this review by actually reviewing the hike? Well, the truth is I am playing for time. Whilst writing out this diatribe, I have collated my thoughts on this hike which I will now declare below. This is a hike for the kind-hearted as well as the driven. Whether you are into business or the outdoors, this hike has something for everyone. Featuring the site of the latest eruption on the still active island or Tenerife in 1909, the lava flows are the newest available and the geology really is quite something. The loop is relatively easy, although not for those on mobility scooters. The views are extraordinary. The only downside is the passive aggressive signs that inform you to not climb up onto the Chinyero crater. Whilst I accept the requirement for such signs, the language uses for little short of hostile. I saw several innocents weeping when reading the signage, such was the trauma felt from being spoken to as if one was a child. Is this really the way we should be enjoying the great outdoors? Having said that, if you do not do this circular walk then you really need to consider your life choices. Perhaps you should change career or leave your partner for you can surely not be in the mind frame of making sensible decisions. I bid you well in the adventures to come. Corporate thanks, J
