We stayed at Keller Ferry Campground. First and foremost, this campground is quite literally the worst I’ve been to. I’ve never seen such a classist group of people, including the camp host. It seemed we were treated differently because we didn’t have an RV or present like everyone else. And we quickly came to find that most the entire campground knew each other, except us. The campground and lake itself was amazing, but that’s about as far as my good feedback goes. Our first night, my dog, who came from an abusive home and has high anxiety, was barking incessantly. I immediately knew this was an issue, but we had forgotten her medication and I was unable to drive due to having some adult beverages upon arrival (before the barking ensued). First thing on Friday morning, I drove to town and got her medicine, and then proceeded to approach all of our camp neighbors and apologize for the noise and let them know the situation had been remedied. All but one neighbor was understanding and a couple even said they hadn’t heard her. Next thing we know, the camp host shows up and said he had gotten complaints about the barking. I immediately told him that it was under control, that she has her medication now, and that I spoke with the neighboring campsites. I was fully understanding of him addressing this concern. Then, he proceeds to tell me that we were “cursing too much”. This shocked me, considering multiple sites were gathering together, partying, having fires during a ban, being loud, and most definitely cursing and speaking extremely inappropriately. There was also a small child (maybe 2 years old) who was left alone and was yelling for its mother from behind the RV screen door for over 20 minutes, while the mother was off in one of the groups who were partying. No one noticed this child yelling for over 20 minutes, but they noticed us? I mentioned this to him and he stated he was “talking to everyone” regarding the language. To my surprise, he did in fact speak to every single other camp. But not regarding language, but to give each and every other campsite a flyer for an invitation for hot dogs and drinks at the store. He did not mention this event to us, nor did he give us a flyer. He blatantly and purposefully excluded us from this event. It was quite hurtful. Especially considering I had my 10 year old daughter with me who quickly recognized that we were being singled out. We almost left at this point, but decided to stick it out since I paid through Sunday. Saturday comes and we are walking down to the lake when the camp host once again approaches us and asks if we are in spot (the site number). I respond yes, and he proceeds to tell me that we were supposed to be packed and out earlier that morning. Confused, I explain to him that I’m sure we booked through Sunday. He disagrees and says he will “double check” and when I said “Please do because I’m sure I paid through Sunday” he then looks at his watch and says he must have been “mistaken” and that I was correct. This just made us feel even more unwelcome and uncomfortable than we already were feeling. We tried to shake the negativity, but we quite literally packed up and left a day early because we were treated so poorly and unfairly for no apparent reason aside from the fact that we were not “the same” as the rest of the camp. I have never in my life had an experience like this at a campground. Ever. My daughter was heartbroken and didn’t understand why we were treated this way, why they tried to push us out a day early even though we paid, just like everyone else. What an awful experience. We will absolutely not be returning and we will be spreading the word to our working class friends and family that “our kind” isn’t welcome there. How disgusting and disappointing. I truly hope no one else has to experience this. If you’re looking into staying at this site, please reconsider. If you reply to my review I would be happy to give you a list of other campsites that far exceed Keller Ferry Campground, where you won’t have to feel outcasted and ridiculed. Do better.

This is for the campers that will be coming in the future this year because as the host informed us the people in charge will not be doing anything to fix these concerns or conditions and I personally and my family will never be returning. I will say all of the nature aspects are beautiful the sand is soft and the lake is a lake, with that being said campsites are very small the bigger ones that are for 18foot rv or two tents , will only fit one full size tent and the host will not help accommodate or help in any way because “this is what the campsite is “ okay well maybe don’t label them as if they can allow for more than one tent and a table, there was also a “walk way” just under our campsite which we had our food ,my fathers tent and children playing by the walkways into the water (the are 3 of these walkway that go INTO the water) keeping in mind there was no room at our campsite where by the water edge we had a couple torch heads for mosquitoes(in my experience even during a fire ban you may have it as it’s controlled) BUT absolutely not at this place so my bad, the host came steamrolling into our campsite, I stumbled out of my tent as he approached me very aggressively asking “WHAT ARE THOSE!!!” As I’m just confused as why a fully grown man is coming into my campsite I asked him what he is talking about? , he explained he’s the camp host and asked what the flames where ??? I explained to him they were for mosquitoes (they were so bad everyone got eaten alive) as he got even more aggressive because I answered his question he demanded he take them down i immediately said yes okay we will and my mom started to go down to the walkway, he repeated himself 4 times demanding to take the flames down and DO NOT light them again , i stared confused and said ok. We are all adults here, and you never speak to someone with that hostility unless you CAN say with your chest. He left .The next morning the slimy host came back trying to apologize and didn’t really get through with an apology, and then processed to tell us that the walkway area entirety under the campsite is not for use and is riddled with rattle snakes and not safe, to our surprise! I’m mentioning this because if he WERE concerned with that he would have told us that the night prior where when he spat at me about the flames my ENTIRE family and child was watching the stars down there in chairs! Not to mention there were no signs about poisonous snakes on the walkway or the information center at the campsite. My sister with her two kids that had the site next to mine packed up and left shortly after this information. We moved all our things up, he must really like us because before my sister left he returned to let us know there was also NO swimming behind us,”thats why there’s a swimming area “(also no signs saying don’t swim ) just very condescending until my sister started asking about the rattle snakes and why there’s no signs about them, he then started pushing the blame on his uppers saying they don’t update anything blah blah saying there hasn’t been snakes in years , so then why the conversation this morning, just to have a power complex? There is therapy for that. I hope the other campers do a review this year because I know he bugged many other campers. And that makes it so we don’t come back,we tell others not to come and it goes.there is a manner of respect and fun a CAMPING host should have, come to us and say hey guys I know the bugs are soo bad but we gotta take no chances , also let’s move your tent up here there just might be snakes and for your safety! But no he came at us weird and comfortable and honestly he made my birthday camping trip a rough experience, I left early as well. The bathroom are also absolutely awful, never sprayed down it was so dirty and honestly confused as to what this host does other than change out our little name reservation signs. Sounds like the easiest job ever , complain to people paying 160$ a weekend coming to get away to end up feeling WATCHED the entire time.
