In the heart of Trastevere, one of Rome’s most vibrant and authentic districts, lies a hidden gem: the Catina Fabulous. Tucked away in the basement of an 18th-century building, this underground cellar was meticulously restored from a Roman cistern dating back to the 1st century AD. Rich in history and charm, the space is adorned with antique furnishings that transport you to another time. By reserving this exclusive food and wine tasting experience, guests are invited into a truly unique setting, where history, flavor, and atmosphere combine for an unforgettable event. Upon arrival, guests are warmly welcomed by knowledgeable staff who not only serve exquisite tastings but also share the captivating stories and cultural roots of Italy’s finest culinary traditions.
During this immersive experience, you’ll savor a carefully curated selection of Italian delicacies and rare wines, each chosen to highlight the country’s regional diversity and artisanal excellence. The offerings are sourced from small-scale producers recognized by the Slow Food\* presidium, an organization dedicated to preserving culinary heritage and promoting sustainability. Every item presented—from aged cheeses and cured meats to regional specialties—is produced with deep respect for tradition, environment, and biodiversity. Set within a 2000-year-old historic setting, this tasting is not just a culinary event, but a sensory journey through the flavors and stories that define Italian gastronomy.

We had a beautiful time sampling wines from all over Italy, combined with an assortment of incredible cheeses and meats delicately prepared and served! Sommelier was insightful and very kind! Would highly recommend to anyone!

We had a fantastic time on this wine pairing experience! It was just our party, and Ginevra did a great job explaining everything in both English and Italian. We booked the Fabullus tasting, which was described as a light lunch and was just the right amount of food. The cellar is centuries old, although you’d never guess that from the modern decor. We tasted wines, cheeses, meat, and more from around Italy. We bought bottles of two of the wines we tasted to go with dinner that night. Grazie mille, Ginevra!!

Book last minute and we were the only 2 there and it was superb. Ginevra was an excellent host and really took time to explain the wines and the food snacks. If you enjoy wine, then you must visit this wine cellar in Rome.

We had a fantastic wine tasting. The wine was great and the food amazing. Our very nice and enthusiastic host, Lorenzo, did a wonderful job by explaining everything in our glasses and on our plates. Really a nice location and a wonderful experience. Thank you! We'll be back...

Wow! 4 olives, 3 cheeses, 4 breads, 3 jellies, 6 meats, mini sandwich, Buffalo mozzarella w sundried tomatoe, ricotta w pistachio & mulberry, gorganzola with walnut on riddiquo, eggplant, unknown yummy (olive?)
