Fourth of July Fireworks EXTENDED Paddle Tour

Experience the magic of Pittsburgh’s skyline illuminated by fireworks with the Fourth of July EXTENDED Paddle Tour. This three hour evening adventure takes participants along the Allegheny River and surrounding waterways, allowing paddlers to enjoy city lights while finding the perfect spot to watch the Fourth of July fireworks show. The tour departs earlier than usual to give everyone extra time on the water and ensures a relaxed pace for paddlers to explore the three rivers before settling in for the show. Previous kayaking experience is recommended as this trip involves intermediate paddling, though it does not need to have been at night before. Participants should arrive early to allow time for parking and check-in, especially as holiday traffic and road closures may occur.

Guides for the trip include trained Excursionists and Volunteer Trip Leaders with night paddling experience, who will lead the group along the river and ensure safety while highlighting the city’s waterfront scenery. The total distance paddled ranges from roughly one to three miles depending on the group’s pace. All paddlers aged three and up, weighing at least thirty five pounds, are welcome. Children under thirteen must use tandem kayaks with an adult, though each participant still requires a ticket. The tour provides all necessary rental equipment, including kayak lights for night paddling, while those bringing their own non-motorized kayaks must ensure they are seaworthy for inspection.
