Outing - Sunset Paddle - Downtown

Join us for a magical evening on the Allegheny River with our Sunset Paddle Downtown experience. This two-hour adventure is perfect for beginners and families, allowing participants aged three and up to enjoy a slow-paced, relaxing paddle while taking in the sights of Pittsburgh and the beautiful sunset. Led by our trained Kayak Pittsburgh Excursionists, you will learn how to use kayaking equipment safely on land before heading out on the river. Along the way, you will cover roughly 1–1.5 miles, gaining confidence on the water while enjoying the city skyline and evening ambiance. Tandem kayaks are required for children under 13, ensuring a safe and guided experience, while all participants must have their own ticket.

Your experience includes professional guide instruction and rental equipment, including boat lights if needed. You will also receive expert safety tips and assistance throughout the paddle. Please note that while kayaking is generally dry, you may get splashed, so dressing in quick-dry clothing and comfortable shoes is recommended. Parking can be affected by local events, so plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Bring water and prepare for rain or shine conditions, as the trip operates in all weather. If you bring your own non-motorized kayak, our staff will inspect it for seaworthiness before the class. Should it be unsuitable, one of our rental kayaks will be provided to ensure a safe and enjoyable outing.
