Outing - Pirates Fireworks Paddle - Downtown

Experience a unique night paddle on the Allegheny River during the Pirates Fireworks Paddle in downtown Pittsburgh. This two hour excursion allows participants to enjoy city lights and watch the spectacular Zambelli fireworks show after the Pirates game. The trip is designed for intermediate paddlers with previous kayaking experience. Participants will meet at the Venture Outdoors Downtown Kayak Dock, and guides will lead the group to the best viewing spot on the river. The distance covered is short, roughly between half a mile to one mile, allowing more focus on enjoying the lights and fireworks rather than long paddling.

Trip leaders are trained Excursionists with night paddling experience and will provide guidance on safety and navigation. All paddlers must be at least three years old and 35 pounds. Those under thirteen must use a tandem kayak with an adult, though each participant must have their own ticket. Rental equipment, including boat lights if needed, is available, or participants may bring their own non motorized kayak after inspection. Participants should arrive early to account for traffic and parking, dress for the weather, and bring water and comfortable shoes. Light jackets are recommended for cooler evenings, and quick drying clothes are advised in case of splashes. Reservations close 24 hours before the event start time, and guides will remain on the water if fireworks are delayed due to the game.
