Embark on a fascinating journey beneath the Eternal City with the Rome Catacombs Guided Tour, offering an immersive experience into one of the most mysterious and historically rich areas of ancient Rome. Located along the legendary Ancient Appian Way, the catacombs are part of a vast and intricate network of underground tunnels—some of the longest in the world. As you descend into this labyrinth, your expert guide will walk you through the solemn corridors where early Christians buried their dead in peace during times of persecution. Marvel at ancient frescoes, inscribed crypts, sarcophagi, small mausoleums, and sacred tombs. The catacombs, such as San Calisto, San Sebastiano, or Santa Domitilla, vary depending on the day of your visit, each with unique treasures and stories, including the burial sites of martyrs, popes, and—according to tradition—even apostles.
To enhance your experience, this tour includes a Green Line Hop-On Hop-Off Open Bus Tour ticket, available for 24, 48, or 72 hours based on your preference. This convenient and flexible panoramic bus tour allows you to comfortably explore Rome’s top landmarks and neighborhoods at your own pace. With multiple stops at key sites across the city and onboard audio commentary in 8 languages, you'll gain insight into Rome's rich history, culture, and architecture while enjoying the freedom to hop off and explore whenever you wish. This special combo tour is ideal for travelers wanting to efficiently combine historical depth with citywide exploration in a single, value-packed package.

I had a great experience with Big Bus Rome! The tour was a wonderful way to see the main attractions around the city. A special thanks to Sayem Asm for his excellent help in getting my ticket—he made the whole process smooth and easy. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rome!

This is truly the best way to see a city and you can hop-on and hop-off at the various sites you want to see. All sorts of ticket options available. Even if you only have a few hours short stay over to see a city - this is the way to do it. We did Rome on this occasion.

We had the most perfect day in Rome thanks to the professionalism and preparation from Anna and the Big Bus Company. While we did not end up ever hopping on or off it was great to know we had the option. Anna gave us great tips and we were able to see everything we wanted to in a limited amount of time!

Christian was a handsomly humorous tour guide. Very friendly and informative. We were with Allure of the Seas, Royal Caribbean cruise. A 6 hour leisure time from 10:30am-4:30pm. We purchased fast passes with Tiqets.com for the Sistine Chapel, 2 months prior to cruising. 1. An 11:45 meeting time and we made it over there on time for our noon entry into the Sistine Chapel. We quickly went through to solely see the Creation by Michael Angelo. 2. After that we were able to take the red bus from the Vatican, stop 6, to the Spanish stairs, stop 7. 3. A short walk over to the Trevi Fountain. 4. Stopped for Limon in Limon. 5. Walked over to the Colosseum. 6. Walked to get coffee and an Aperol Spritz. 7. Back at meeting point, stop 4, Circo Massimo. 30 minutes prior to departing. Note* we speed walk to allow more leisure time at each stop. Red bus tours had a bus ready for our motor coach right when we arrived. We did not go near stop 1 as our guide told us there was a 10-15 minute break for drivers that they have to turn off their engines. We found that walking would've been faster verses waiting for the bus at some stops. They gave us a great map of the bus route that we were able to gauge distance and time. Thank you Red Bus tours! We were able to get so much more site seeing in then we hoped for on the Hop on Hop off.

We took the hop on hop off excursion with Christian from the MSC Seaview. Christian did an incredible job getting us prepared for our time in Rome with perfect directions and expert tips! I gave this a 4 star and not 5 because 6 hours is not enough time to see Rome, we knew this but if we left earlier we could have possibly had 7 hours and every hour counts! The hop on hop off bus experience in Rome was a little disappointing as well. Very overcrowded and unorganized. Overall my family and I had a great experience and did see all the highlights of Rome. It definitely made us want to come back and spend more time here.
