The PADI Advanced Open Water Certification at Nautilus Dive Tech is the perfect next step for divers looking to expand their skills and confidence underwater. This course builds on your basic diving education and introduces more advanced techniques, allowing you to gain full control during your dives. Over the course, you will complete five adventure dives in varying environments and depths, enhancing your experience and adaptability as a diver. Mandatory dives include Deep Diving, where you learn about depth effects, nitrogen toxicity, and changes in colors and performance, and Underwater Navigation, which teaches precise orientation and distance estimation without visual references. Additional recommended dives such as Night Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Search and Recovery allow you to practice essential skills while discovering new underwater experiences in a safe and guided environment.
This program is designed for divers with Open Water certification and provides all necessary training materials, rental equipment, water, and light snacks, making it easy to focus entirely on your underwater growth. Optional adventure dives, including Boat Diver, Digital Underwater Photographer, Drift Diver, Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist, and Project AWARE Specialist, give you the flexibility to explore interests while refining core techniques. By the end of the course, you will gain confidence navigating, controlling buoyancy, and exploring deeper and more challenging dive sites. This certification equips you with the skills to safely enjoy diverse underwater adventures while advancing your dive knowledge and personal proficiency.

I had an absolutely fantastic weekend doing my orientation dive (and fun dives) with Ocean Divers at Killary Fjord! From the moment I arrived every member of staff and all the other divers were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was supportive and relaxed, making it easy to feel comfortable even if you’re just starting out like me (10 dives previously). There were a lot of divers, but each in small groups with their own dive master or dive instructor and grouped together in the OW/AOW courses or fun dives. While I had already done my OW elsewhere, I’ll definitely be doing the advanced course and further dives with these guys as the level of dedication and commitment that goes into making their students be successful divers is visible. Bring a bit of patience for the initial response period if you reach out during a very busy time - it‘s hard to respond when you’re always in the water 😄 but I honestly can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking to become a good diver and explore Irelands underwater world with a genuinely lovely group of people.

I’m doing the drysuit diver course with Oceandivers at the moment. I was having trouble getting my buoyancy right, so had six pool sessions to get it right at no extra charge!! What a crew Oceandivers have. There was no pressure, just take your time and get it right. Dan is always on hand to help you out and the rest of the lads are so helpful. I had my first sea dive for the buoyancy certification today off Dalkey island. It was fantastic!! The extra lessons really paid off. I cannot recommend the Oceandivers crew highly enough. It is and has been a pleasure working with Oceandivers to get my drysuit certification. Can’t wait to get back in the water with the crew!!
