Presten also known as The Priest is a 500 meter granite pillar rising straight from the ocean. This climb is one of the most famous and sought after routes in Lofoten and offers a long free climb with varied pitches and clean granite walls above the emerald Norwegian Sea. The approach is short and each pitch offers fun and challenging climbing. The West Pillar is a twelve pitch route rated up to US 5.10, Norwegian Grade 6, and French 6a plus. Climbers often warm up on nearby routes with guides before attempting the full climb. The climb starts near Henningsvær, a small fishing village popular with outdoor enthusiasts in summer. Certified guides lead the climb and ensure safety while offering tips and support.

The climb is physically demanding and requires climbers to be comfortable with Norwegian Grade six climbing. The route takes around seven to ten hours including descent and operates daily from June first to September thirtieth. Climbers should be fit, focused, and ready for exposure and long hours on the pillar. Technical equipment such as ropes, rock rack, harness, and helmet are supplied. Climbers carry their personal backpack with food, water, clothes, and light shoes for the descent. This climb is perfect for experienced climbers looking for an unforgettable adventure in the beautiful Lofoten region of Norway.
