Laura Plantation is a beautifully preserved site with a serene landscape that immediately transports you to 19th-century Louisiana. The guided tour is extremely well organized and deeply educative, offering rich insight into Creole culture and daily life in the 1800s. It thoughtfully explains family life, traditions, and the realities of slavery with honesty and respect. The stories shared make the history feel personal and impactful. A special mention to our tour guide, Abby, who was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate—her storytelling truly brought the plantation’s history to life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to understand Louisiana’s past beyond the surface. The tours start at 10 AM and leave every hour or so. $30 for adults.

I just visited Laura Plantation, and I was genuinely impressed. The level of care and effort that’s gone into restoring and preserving the property is remarkable—you can tell this isn’t a superficial tourist stop, but a place that takes its history seriously. The tour itself was excellent. It covered the plantation’s history in a way that felt accurate, balanced, and fair—no glossing over, no theatrics, just a thoughtful presentation of what actually happened here. That matters, and Laura Plantation does it right. Our guide, Abby, was outstanding. She was incredibly polite, approachable, and clearly well-informed. More importantly, she was a great storyteller—engaging without being dramatic, respectful without being scripted. She handled the subject matter with maturity and confidence, and it showed that she truly understands the history she’s sharing rather than just reciting facts. If you’re in the area, passing through Louisiana, or even looking for a destination worth going out of your way for, I’d highly recommend this tour. It’s educational, well-run, and genuinely worth the time.

The plantation is beautiful and history very interesting but to me the staff are the real standout. Took and Uber out to the plantation and as soon as we got out the staff ran out and asked us if it was an Uber. We said ‘yes’ and they let us know that it was basically a dead zone and they ran after our Uber and asked them to stay and take us back. They do have this on their website but we didn’t see it and just off the cuff chose to come out. Can’t praise the staff enough as they were so wonderful and they helped us so much.

We had a great time. Guide was awesome. Well paced and well researched. Would definitely recommend this compared to the more touristy oak alley. Hit up B+C after for lunch too.

i would like to say thank you to kristyn, our tour guide who gave us a meaningful and informative tour. we learned about the family and the lives of slaves who lived there. they were not trying to sugar coat which i highly respect. knowledge is power. we need to learn so we can heal. i’m grateful to have gone here to learn more about how this interesting and unique creole culture affected the slave trade in louisiana. still messed up and sad though
Sarah

our guide was Renee and she was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions everyone in our group had. I loved the fact that she was very patient with us as we moved slower and wanted a lot of pictures.

The tour was wonderful! Caroline, our guide, was very welcoming, she explained the history of the plantation and of the family that owned it. She answered all of our questions and guided us through the complicated and difficult history of the slave owning America. I recommend this tour as it is quite short compared to the other out there, the house and its surroundings are beautiful and the story of Laura, one of the owners of the house, reminded us that even in the darkest hour, one can find the courage to follow their heart and their beliefs and do the right thing.

James was a wonderful guide as we walked around the plantation he took us time to go in depth for each story he told and made sure the group was not getting lost with all of the people he was telling us about 10/10 worth every dollar will probably be back
