Airfield Estate is one of my favourite estate with real farm and plenty of vegetation & Fruits in the heart of Dublin, there’s a real working farm here ,with cows, sheep etc. The gardens are beautifully kept, from colourful flower beds, organic vegetation plots, various exquisite lush Apple trees ( Braeburn, Crimson Bramley Egremont Russet , Grenadier, Katy, Kerry Pippin, Annie Elizabeth,Coxs, Kidds Orange ) Peach, Walnuts , Concord & Conference Pears, Plums( discovery, Cambridge gage ,) Hazelnuts ( Kentish & Webb ),Pomos, plenty of different above and below ground vegetations, herbs from Kale, Artichoke, Japanese oats , Wasabi greens, thyme dozen others and what not .The vibrant Brown, Yellow,Red , Pink Dark Orangish Apples and Blue ,Yellow , Purple Plums are an exotic thing to see and experience .The orchards and vegetations are best to see in summer and the list is endless There’s a lovely sense of history around the old house and the Famous old Yew trees ,Biloba ,sacred Maouri trees ,Hawthorn and other from different part of the world , the farmers’ market and café using estate produce are fab .
Amazing place with great history behind and so many beautiful things to see! Very relaxing and also educational,plenty to do, many benches, paths and suitable for all ages. I can’t believe that I only discovered it recently, such a gem on the Dublin’s map❤️
A fantastic green oasis in the urban landscape, we had a curated tour by the amazing Sarah who went above and beyond in entertaining our group of Adults and children. Lovely to see animals, fruits, vegetables and flowers at the peak of the season. There is also a small farmers market and a restaurant using locally grown produce which were nice to browse and eat at, though the restaurant/cafe was busy.
