3-Tages-Kanutour: Dorlar bis Runkel

The three day canoe trip from Dorlar to Runkel is a scenic adventure along the Lahn River, perfect for families, groups, and nature lovers. The journey starts at the Dorlar launch point at noon, with a short briefing on paddling techniques, water safety, and lock operation. The first day takes participants past the historic town of Wetzlar with its old town, cathedral, and Lahn bridge, ending at the Solms Schooleck campsite where overnight stays in tents or tipis are possible. On the second day, the route continues past Löhnberg with its castle ruins and mineral spring, stopping at Selters beer garden before reaching Weilburg to pass through the unique shipping tunnel and hand operated locks. The final day leads through Aumenau and Villmar with its marble bridge and King Konrad Rock, arriving at Runkel with a spectacular view of Runkel Castle. Along the way, calm waters and gentle currents make this tour suitable for beginners and families.

Over three days, paddlers experience approximately 60 kilometers of tranquil river, forested banks, and historic sites. Rest stops and campsites along the Lahn provide opportunities to relax and enjoy the scenery. The tour is self guided, giving participants flexibility to start at their own schedule and travel at a comfortable pace. Essential equipment such as canoes, paddles, waterproof barrels, and life jackets for children and non swimmers are included. The return journey is easy via the Lahntalbahn railway from Runkel or other nearby stations. Safety and comfort are prioritized, with life jackets required for young children and non swimmers and optional stops at beer gardens and campsites for breaks.
