Awesome ceilings and a view of the wealth the church has! Glad I did the tour. Its awesome. Avoid the shops as the same items are mostly available in the stalls around Rome for a fraction of the price. They have prosecco in the little cafe though for 5€. 😀

We had a pre-booked 9 AM slot and found they are strict with timing—unlike some other sites, they won't let you in early. Expect security and ticket checks (though no passport check was needed). The museum is massive and can be exhausting, so I highly recommend skipping the temporary exhibitions and focusing on the main one-way route to see the highlights: the Gallery of Maps, the Raphael Rooms, the Laocoön group, and the Apollo Belvedere. The absolute pinnacle is, of course, the Sistine Chapel, but the entire collection is packed with masterpieces by famous artists from Italy and beyond.
