3-5 Investigation

This immersive field trip offers students a unique opportunity to explore marine science through classroom, laboratory, and outdoor learning experiences. Participants will engage in a guided tour of the Outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital, where they will meet live patients and learn about their rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation. Students will also explore hands-on activities such as animal adaptations, food web construction, and animal classification, gaining a deep understanding of the roles animals play in their ecosystems. This program emphasizes conservation, ecology, and environmental stewardship while inspiring curiosity about veterinary science and marine research. Each activity is educator-led and aligned with Florida’s State Science Standards, allowing students to learn through observation, experimentation, and interaction with real biofacts.

The program is flexible, allowing educators to build a customized one and a half hour experience by selecting different activity options. Students can participate in the Coastal Trek to explore native habitats, discover food chains in group exercises, and learn classification skills while observing local species. The combination of structured lessons and self-guided exploration of One Ocean Hall and Outdoor Ecosystem Tanks ensures an engaging and memorable experience. With maximum student participation, proper adult supervision, and a focus on hands-on learning, this field trip offers a balanced blend of science, fun, and inspiration.
