Michael

We visited here this past September. We took a public bus from Central Station. The bus tickets were very cheap and we saw some local roadside scenery while traveling to and from there. The Windmills were very cute and it was nice to see the farm animals. We sampled many cheeses which were quite good. The place is very picturesque. We recommend going there. Be sure to take the public bus it is clean, quick and cheap. There are also tours available from Central Amsterdam but they are expensive and not as fun as doing it yourself.

I loved the experience. They have windmills, little souvenir shops and farm animals. It is very cozy and you can learn about old Netherlands culture. The only thing is that the coffee from the coffee shop is very bad and very small. But other than that I loved it. There’s also a lot of parking.

We had a lovely cold and partly sunny day here. It’s a large museum with working windmills and museum exhibits. A couple of nice restaurant/bars for something to eat. We walked back from the Mill museum through the fields.

The Netherlands is famous for windmills, so this place is a must-visit. But also because of this, expect a large crowd of tourists here arrving by bus. Overall an interesting place to check out the windmills, learn about the history of the town, wooden shoes and cheese. The village is free to visit but tickets are required for entry to the museums and windmills.

As a free tourist attraction, Zaanse Schans is very good place to explore. There is ticket only if you want to go inside the windmill. Apart from this, there is Clog making demo, Dutch cheese tasting, exploring the iconic windmills and photo opportunities to capture the overall Dutch ambience. I really enjoyed the clog demo how using pre-set machines clogs were made. Windmills were fun too. Overall a good place to spend half day.
