Algarve Dolphin Watching Tour Showcases Atlantic Wildlife from Lagos
The coastal waters of the Algarve are offering visitors a short but immersive marine wildlife experience departing from Lagos. The tour focuses on observing dolphins in their natural environment along one of southern Portugal’s most active sections of the Atlantic.
From Lagos, guests head offshore with experienced guides who are familiar with local dolphin habitats and seasonal movement patterns. The waters are home to species such as bottlenose and common dolphins, which are frequently seen swimming in groups, surfacing near boats, and interacting naturally within their pods.
The experience is designed to combine wildlife observation with coastal cruising, allowing passengers to take in views of cliffs, open sea, and the wider Algarve shoreline. Knowledgeable crew members provide commentary on marine behavior and the region’s ocean ecosystem, emphasizing responsible and respectful viewing practices.
Depending on conditions, guests may travel aboard high-speed RIB vessels such as the Tornado, offering a fast and dynamic ride across the Atlantic. With short daily departures and a duration of around ninety minutes, the tour is accessible to a wide range of visitors seeking a close encounter with marine life along the Algarve coast.

Customer Reviews

Great guides, great tour. Totally worth the money. Common dolphins were well spotted and observed! Totally recommend!

Very fast comfortable boat. Friendly guides. Took us a long way out looking for marine life, and entertained us on the waves when it looked like we might not be in luck. On the way back though, we found a huge pod of dolphins, with lots of young ones leaping out the water. They gave us a bit of extra time on the tour so we could really make the most of seeing them. Thank you! Bring a jacket if you have one!

The guides were super friendly and informative - the size of the boat (smaller) was favourable as it was way more intimate and you got unobstructed views of the dolphins that way! Overall 10/10 experience. We saw dolphins pretty much right away so we got lucky! Best to book the first morning slot for better chances of seeing them
