This special tour offers a journey into the rich cultural past of Qatar, taking you to the northern region where the roots of the nation’s heritage lie. The experience begins at Al Khor’s historic harbor, once the bustling center for pearl diving and fishing. You'll get a glimpse of traditional life as you explore the old shipyard where boats were once repaired and restored. This coastal area was vital to Qatar’s economy and maritime legacy, and walking through it feels like stepping back in time.

Next, you'll discover one of Qatar’s hidden natural gems—the Al Thakira Mangrove Forest. This lush, green sanctuary is among the oldest and largest in the country, offering a rare look at Qatar’s natural ecosystem. The final stop is Al Zubara Fort, a remarkably well-preserved example of an Arab fort and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort not only stands as a powerful symbol of defense architecture but also tells the story of a once-thriving trade town that played a crucial role in Qatar’s development. This tour perfectly blends history, culture, and nature for a well-rounded and insightful experience.

This is another breathtaking historical sites, next to the beach lies the Jumail abandoned village, even though there is no history written on it, the abandoned village speaks huge for itself and how the Qatari people lived in mud houses, how they did fishing before modernisation to where the country is today... It's a beautiful place to visit and walk around the village. This is also a perfect place to watch sunset as the sun sets through the horizon and disappearing behind the Arabian sea.

Jumail Abandoned Village, located on Qatar’s northern coast, is a ghost town that offers a glimpse into the country’s past. Once a thriving fishing and pearling village, it was abandoned in the mid-20th century as people moved to urban areas. Today, its crumbling stone houses, a mosque with a standing minaret, and scattered ruins create an eerie yet fascinating atmosphere. The village is a popular spot for history enthusiasts and photographers, especially at sunset when the ruins cast dramatic shadows. Easily accessible by road, Jumail Village is a quiet yet intriguing destination for those interested in Qatar’s heritage and the remnants of traditional coastal life.

Recommend to visit if you are in the area. The road leading to the ruins is a bumpy dirt road. Although we were in an SUV, we feared on going into the road and getting a flat tire, so we parked closer to the street and walked. We arrived as the sun was quickly disappearing and it was beautiful! There is no information posted about the site, so make sure you Google about it prior to your visit and know what you are actually looking at. Yet, I think this site was worth 15-30 min of our time. You could combine multiple sites on the north of Qatar area, to include: Al Khor corniche, Purple Island, Al Ruwais corniche, Jumail Abandoned Village, Shadows Travelling in the Sea by Day, and Al Zubara Fort and its archeological site.
