Very unsatisfactory customer service last weekend. The €180 jacket I bought here in mid October already had a fault with the zip not closing. It had been struggling to close for a couple of weeks and then one day wouldn't close at all. I went up to the tills and the employee there directed me to a woman who I presume is the store manager. I explained the problem with the zip on the jacket and I still had the receipt to prove when I bought it. Immediately I could sense that she didn't want to help me, she looked at the zip, tried to close it which wouldn't work and told me it's not a fault with the jacket and that I must have stood on the zip and broken it. When has someone ever stood on a jacket? Also why would the zip not have fully broken immediately if I had caused the breakage? She didn't offer to try anything to fix the zip, just told me that there isn't a fault, that 'they' (the manufacturer I presume) wouldn't do anything and that I could try putting a screwdriver in the zip myself to push whatever the broken part of the zip is back into place (I tried this and it didn't work). I've had cheap jackets that have lasted years, worn them the same way, stored them the same way. I'm not inclined to ever buy anything else from this shop unless this is sorted. If you need a jacket, TX Maxx is a few shops down and much cheaper. At least if you have a problem with a jacket from there, you probably didn't spend much on it.

Bought a new pair of walking/hiking shoes here recently. Ida the footware manager could not have been more helpful with his advice and assistance. He brought out many pairs from the storeroom to make sure I was 100% happy. Delighted with my purchase. Great service, great store!

Online stock levels are NOT accurate. Drove all the way to this store with full intention on buying a multi tool worth over €100. Website and Google said “item in stock updated today.” Arrived at the store and the display area for multi tools & knives was in bits with barley any product on show / in stock and of course no sign of the item I was looking for which said was fully in stock online. Lost a sale of over €100 straight away and I had my eye on a few other items which I didn’t buy because why support a company who lie to customers?. I’d be reluctant to go back to 53 again after that.

The worse experience. I bought a Stanley bottle for my daughter that said it was splashproof which I mistakenly believed that it was another fancy term for leakproof. However, I did ask if I could return it I was told i could give it back within 30 days. It says the same in the website: ---------------------------- Can I return/exchange an item I bought in store? If you are not satisfied, and you wish to return a product, you may do so within 30 days of purchase date to any 53 Degrees North store and we will refund you in full via the original payment method used (if possible) or exchange your item for another size or another item. This includes items in the sale. ‐--------------------‐------ I came to return it the next day when I saw that the bottle wasn't leakproof which is a must for my need. 50 euro bottle claiming to be able to hold hot drinks and when you seal it it still leaks. And no ability to get a refund. The manager was awful. Zero empathy and understanding of the problem that I was having and absolutely no effort to think of options on how to resolve it. Very defensive and one of those people that you don't want to deal with ever again. Change your refund policy or at least make sure you are clear with the customer about the products that cannot be refunded when you just put water on them. I see you have a LOT of reviews mentioning the same thing about your over the top strict refund/return policy. You are losing customers, do something. First and last time I buy in this shop.
