Guided Cycling Tour Showcases Wildlife and Landscapes of Blackwater Refuge
A guided cycling experience beginning at the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is offering visitors a structured and scenic ride through some of Dorchester County’s most diverse natural environments.
The tour starts with a safety and orientation briefing, where participants are introduced to bicycle handling, road awareness, hand signals, and group riding etiquette. Riders are then fitted with their bicycles before setting off under the guidance of local experts.
The route continues along the Refuge Wildlife Drive, a paved path that winds through marshlands, forests, and open farmland. The setting provides a smooth and accessible ride suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and cycling experience.
Along the journey, participants are likely to encounter a variety of wildlife, including eagles, osprey, herons, deer, and numerous songbird species. Organisers describe the experience as a calm, educational ride designed to encourage appreciation of the refuge’s rich biodiversity.

Customer Reviews
Had a visitors center but went there at the worse time possible. Got there just before closing, so didn't get a chance to see much of the center. Did a quick drive through of the park and still saw some deer, herons and a beautiful bald eagle! Will definitely go back in better weather!
One of my favorite stops on the Eastern Shore as well as Maryland in general. Always some incredible natural scenes and creatures to observe, including eagles.
Beautiful…. Love the drive in walk through as it gives you glimpse of the wildlife around you. You’re able to park and walk around as there’s so much wildlife. Sunset was perfect
