Discover the natural beauty of Saguaro Lake on a guided kayaking or paddleboarding tour, just a 40-minute drive from Phoenix. This 3.5-mile adventure takes you along shorelines lined with iconic saguaro cacti and through a secluded section of towering canyon walls, offering a unique perspective of the Arizona desert. Knowledgeable guides provide instruction on paddling techniques and share fascinating insights about the local landscape, flora, fauna, and history, making the experience educational as well as scenic. The tour is suitable for paddlers of all levels and ages, providing a memorable way to connect with the stunning environment of the American Southwest.
Tours launch from Butcher Jones Recreation Site and include all necessary equipment, such as kayak or paddleboard, paddle, seat, PFD (life jacket), dry bag, Tonto Forest parking pass, water, and light snacks. Participants are encouraged to wear sun-protective clothing, hats, and shoes that can get wet, and bring extra water, snacks, sunscreen, and a camera. Special considerations include double kayak options, SUP requirements, and age or weight restrictions for children. All participants must wear a PFD, and the tour may be modified or canceled due to weather conditions. Riverbound Sports is a permitted outfitter through the Tonto National Forest, and all guides are CPR and ACA certified, ensuring a safe and enjoyable desert paddling experience.
