Jun 15, 2025 Our driver was Travis... Viator review: Bioluminescence Lagoon Tour from Montego Bay with Pick Up Our driver was Travis with Trav Sun Tours and he was phenomenal! Called me when he was running late due to an accident on the road. About a 20-minute drive from our resort in Montego Bay. Travis was friendly and talkative along the way. A rum punch was included when we got there, waiting for the sun to set. There were 3 or 4 boats total that took people out in the lagoon and let people in to swim and take pics. It was hard to get phone pics with no flash and the people moving in the water. Video worked pretty well. They had a photographer that would take pics for $30 (plus tip). Travis was our private driver and stopped on the way back to our resort for dinner (we paid for his plus we tipped him). Highly recommend this tour!

Viator review: Bioluminescence Lagoon Tour from Montego Bay with Pick Up I went into this experience knowing that the amount of bioilluminescence that you see can be effected by the weather (I was a little worried since it had rained in Montego bay that afternoon). That being said, I was surprised to see that the water was BRIGHT with activity. Definitely an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Lisa was an excellent driver and guide, and was very knowledgeable about everything. I truly recommend her and this excursion. The rum punch was also excellent! Side note: Be mindful of what's around you when you are swimming (as best as you can). Regardless of what the boat crew will tell you, there are jellyfish in the water. Even though they will deny it, know that they are fully equipped with numbing cream and alcohol and won't hesitate to help out! Besides that little part (really very minor), it was perfect!

Our experience at luminous lagoon was fantastic!!! Very relaxing and it will stay in our memories forever. It’s so special to see the colourful green/blue lights and the little stars shining in the water as you move. The staff on the boat was very nice and helpful. Buy the pictures the guy will take as you’re in the water, they really worth it!!!

Amazing experience! The boat ride was fun and informative, the crew was courteous and knowledgeable and the captain extremely skilled. The water was warm and only a few feet deep, the bottom however was quite soft and sludgy you might not want to put your feet down. The dinoflagellates were bright and an, absolutely marvelous sight!

The pictures do not do this experience justice. You must simply GO! Don't hesitate! Since I rented a car, my son and I drove down to Luminous Lagoon and paid a total of $50 to the most amazing, knowledgeable and entertaining host--Captain Jerry!! (don't let those online tour operators waaaay overcharge you for the same tour that has been operating for decades).

Possibly the coolest thing to experience in person. Definitely recommend at least once. The water will be vibrant when it does light up (white/greenish). It will be hard to capture on phone. It lights up brighter when you move less so stay still and watch the movement light it up again. I could have stayed in the water for a long time. We were only there maybe 15 mins or so. Tips: Bring swimwear, you will be jumping into the lagoon Wear water shoes as the floor feels like jelly Bring a towel! Avoid flash, you ruin the experience for everyone!

You don't glow as much as the pictures may lead you to believe but it was a great adventure for a few hours! Wear a throw away bathing suit or an old one you don't care about staining! It's very swampy water, leaves big dark streaks in lighter colors but worth it!

After a rough excursion with another company when we didn’t make it to the lagoon, Travis helped us book with Trav Sun to make up for it. We thought we were going to have him as our guide again, because we had such a good experience with him to Negril. We were slightly disappointed, but when Lisa picked us up, we were pleasantly surprised! She is Travis’s wife, and was a joy to and from the resort. The experience itself is once in a lifetime. Definitely plan to jump in, or you will miss out on most of the fun!
