Customer Reviews
I ordered a Barbour jacket from Sportsden (Ireland-based retailer) on November 29 as a Christmas gift. What should have been a simple and well-timed purchase turned into a long, stressful and unacceptable experience. From the beginning, the delivery timelines were misleading. Delivery was initially announced for December 9, which was perfectly reasonable for an order placed at the end of November. However, the parcel only arrived in Budapest on December 12 and was never delivered to my address. After that, there was no clear communication, only contradictory information and a complete lack of responsibility. The carrier chosen by Sportsden, DPD, repeatedly failed to deliver and provided false explanations. DPD had publicly stated that all parcels received in Budapest before December 15 would be delivered before Christmas, which clearly did not happen in my case. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, nothing moved forward. On January 5, 2026, after being disconnected twice from DPD’s phone support (43 minutes waiting in the morning and 35 minutes at midday), I was forced to go personally to DPD’s offices in Budapest, where I waited over two hours just to claim my parcel. I was then sent to collect the jacket myself from their warehouse outside the city, accessible only by car. I had to rent a car at my own expense and drive there during a snowstorm to retrieve an item that should have been delivered normally. Throughout this entire situation, Sportsden remained completely passive, offering only vague replies and clearly distancing themselves from the problem, even though they chose the carrier and this was a Christmas gift ordered early enough. To make matters worse, Sportsden now refuses any form of compensation, not even a refund of the shipping costs, and is currently ignoring my emails, phone calls and WhatsApp messages. The jacket arrived after the holidays, after significant stress, wasted time and additional costs, with no apology and no goodwill gesture. For a brand like Barbour, being represented by a retailer providing such a level of service is frankly embarrassing. This experience gives the clear impression that Sportsden takes the money and disappears as soon as an issue arises. I strongly recommend avoiding this retailer.
