At the culinary laboratory of the creative hub Center Rog, you can explore innovative cooking techniques, from drying fruit in a state-of-the-art lyophilizer to preparing a goulash large enough for an entire factory. Working on a massive kitchen island with views of prototypes and 3D printers in the FAB lab, participants can prepare a brunch and learn two inventive cooking recipes. Center Rog is the largest creative hub in Slovenia and the region, housed in a former production hall with a 150-year history, from its origins as a machinery workshop and leather goods factory to over half a century of bicycle production. Today, the center operates on community-based production laboratories that are accessible to everyone after completing the training programs.
During the workshop “Mix & Match Tastes,” participants create dishes that highlight Slovenian ingredients and culinary traditions. Local dragon herb, known as pehtran, transforms simple curd into a flavorful filling, which is then folded into puff pastry using quick hand techniques. You will also prepare a seasonal salad with apples, walnuts, horseradish, and honey, learning tips and secrets about traditional Slovenian cuisine along the way. This hands-on culinary experience combines creativity, innovation, and cultural knowledge, offering participants not only a delicious meal but also insights into Slovenia’s gastronomic heritage.
