Crafting Connection: Hands-on Pottery Workshop Brings Tradition to Life

Visitors stepping into the studio of the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum are welcomed into a vibrant creative space led by academic sculptor and ceramic designer Eva Peterson Lenassi and her experienced team. The workshop offers participants an opportunity to explore the timeless craft of pottery in a professional yet inviting environment, where artistic guidance and cultural heritage come together.

During the session, participants are introduced to the fundamentals of wheel throwing before being guided step by step in shaping their own ceramic cup using locally sourced Slovenian clay. As the clay responds to every movement of the hands, the process creates a unique bond between maker and material, offering a calming, tactile, and deeply rewarding creative experience.

Sustainability is a key feature of the workshop, with unused clay carefully collected, recycled, and transformed into new creations to minimize waste. This environmentally conscious approach reflects the studio's commitment to responsible craftsmanship while preserving traditional ceramic-making techniques for future generations.

After the finished cups are fired, they are ready for collection in approximately one week, with shipping available by prior arrangement for international visitors. Offered in Slovenian, English, Croatian, Italian, German, French, and Spanish, the workshop welcomes a diverse audience, combining contemporary design with centuries-old craftsmanship in an experience that is both educational and memorable.
