Customer Reviews

The level rooms were so outdated and old, however the private areas did make up for the extra money you do pay. There is a horrific poo smelling lake outside the 52 building which is disgusting. If you stay here and pay the difference to upgrade, ensure you don't stay in the building from 50-52. The grounds of the hotel were stunning and the pool was lovely. Fantastic upkeep and the exercise classes in the pool were a great way to get the community going. The gym is horrific, broken equipment and dumbbells that have been torn and ripped apart and even missing. Significant investment is required here. The massages are the worst I've ever had. The forms you have the guests fill out are pointless because the massage people don't read or listen nor do they communicate in English even when repeatly asked to go harder and more importantly don't touch injury areas. The prices are woaful, however signed up for a timeshare presentation and got a credit. That's a good tip if you want to save some money. Being harrased for tips and google review for this venue is pathetic. Most of these reviews have been when the concierge pressure the guests to leave a review and when you say you don't want to, they bring our a manager to beg you to do it. Don't be influenced. The food in the buffets trump that of places you have to book for, very very disappointing. Entertainment was good and the nightlife was great to see. Overall it's a 2 star because they constantly harrass you to upgrade and pay more for a better "experience" even when you just want to do absolutely nothing by the pool. Would I come back? probably not. Edit: Your generic response literally does nothing but confirm what I said. You talk about highlights, yet you don't mention the low lights. My review is accurate and valid.

We visited in January 2026 for 6 days, 5 nights. The check in was a bad experience and did not reflect the rest of our trip. We traveled with another couple (which we requested to be beside) who was immediately upgraded when we arrived. We asked to be with them and they said they only way we could be with them was to pay 500 USD to upgrade our room. When we declined, they told us we would give us a deal at 300 USD and we could only be with them if they rejected the upgrade or paid the cost. We decided to just not be together, but the kicker was that the upgraded room they were suggested was not available after we declined and they were given the same room but just in a different building. It felt like a scam and did not give us a great feeling when we arrived. That being said, the service we received more than made up for the bad initial experience. Everyone we interacted with was so lovely! A high recommendation for the guys who run the pool bar, who were so much fun and great to order from! For food, we had really great experience with the team at the bazar buffet and the Hacienda restaurant. Food was good, I would not recommend going to the steak house but other than that, everything was good! Room is good, always clean and the mini bar is filled daily. We never needed to call for everything as it was always stocked. The only negative, our room was near the lobby which meant we heard loud base from the party until early in the morning. We used a sound machine so it didnt bother us, but if you are sensitive to sound at night it might be a struggle. There was always a fun event happening throughout the day - we really enjoyed the foam party and the pool games. We did see a few night shows, they were good and a nice way to end the night. The event leaders were great! Very friendly and made you feel comfortable in joining the events. Although we had a rough start, the remainder of our trip made up for it! I would come back to Melia with my kids, as they had a great waterpark for kids and would recommend it to friends and family.

Having recently returned from this resort I have a fresh view on its positives and negatives. To keep a brief review and start with the positives, this resort building and it's grounds are simply stunning, the variety of flora and fauna is spectacular including a wide variety of palm trees and beautifully kept shrubs mixed with the sight of peacocks, storks, herons, pelicans, terrapins, ducks and moorhens. My favourite part of the experience was walking from my room near the beach end of the resort to the reception. The availability of sun loungers was satisfactory, although I rise early and this was able to find them without issue. I was pleasantly surprised to find a scotch whisky (Ballantines) available at all bars - a drink I enjoy here in Scotland and didn't expect to find so far from home. The food in the buffets and barefoot bar was good, the burgers at the bar were very welcome in the afternoon. The beach is clean, with wonderful sand and easily accessible from my room (in block 26). Sadly all was not perfect though, the majority of staff were reluctant to engage, and somewhat passive to my interactions making me feel distinctly like a burden at times and sometimes feeling punished for my poor Spanish. This was not without exception - my mini bar restocker (I think his name was Johanme or similar) was brilliant - friendly and courteous and there were a few others whom seemed to smile and be happy to help. The resort offers some evening entertainment that seems targeted towards the younger clients, whilst this is good, I was left confused once we discovered the Fun Republic catered for this in a far better and less invasive way across the road from the hotel. It seemed like the promotion and use of this venue was lost on the resort as when we visited it was nearly empty - it would be good to promote this more and move the loud imposing musical events there to keep some serenity in the main resort. The service at the restaurants was slow, getting a wine list (surely and upsell opportunity that should be promoted heavily) was almost a struggle, the Italian restaurant being unacceptable (half and hour to order drinks and pizzas with raw dough bases) and the food in general was overseasoned - the chefs frequently using far too much salt that can always be added later to taste. Finally our room was below par for a 5 star resort, the TV remote was not working, I had to take it apart and clean off the previous spilled liquids from inside to get it to operate and the TV required retuning every time it was switched off. The room finish in general was shabby, with lots of small issues that I've included pictures of to illustrate. All told this holiday was still one to remember, I miss the beautiful weather, the gardens and the peacefuk sunrises but there are some improvements that need to be made to keep it up to 5 star standard.
