I got there early and was the first one in the gates. Truly does not dissapoint, a history lover's dream! The taverns, the streets, the theatres - all breathtaking. A little imagination is needed for a lot of the buildings as much of the statues and paintings were transported to Naples or are in storage. Do a little research before or bring a friend who knows a bit about Rome so you know what you're looking at, and highly recommend the audio guide, or you will be a bit lost. It is worth paying for Pompeii + to see the villa of mysteries, as a lot of the frescos are still visible in the villa and it is a lot quieter. The other sites are noteworthy too, if you want the three day pass. When I visited a lot of rooms where not open due to rain and maintenance so you may not get to see everything. My unstoppable places are the theatres, the temple of Heracles, the villa of mysteries and the forum baths. Byo water and food, although there is a cafe and resteraunt in the centre near the brothel.

What a great experience visiting Pompeii. The weather was perfect and our tour guide Romolo was amazing. It was a little tricky getting to the site. Make sure you book the correct train to the archaeological site and not the other Pompeii station. Ultimately it will depend upon which entrance you will be using to enter. So do your research before booking trains!

I visited Pompeii around 1 pm on a weekday, and there was no waiting time at all, which was great. The entrance process was smooth and not crowded. I was traveling with luggage, so I first went to the luggage storage at the railway station. Keep in mind that they only accept cash. What I found strange is that inside their office they have an ATM, yet they still do not accept card payments. The exchange rate from that machine also seemed very poor, so it felt like they benefit from this setup. I would not recommend using that luggage storage. Instead, there is a free luggage storage area inside the archaeological site itself, which is a much better option. It is convenient and saves both money and time. The site is massive, much larger than I expected. I highly recommend downloading the official audio guide before or at the entrance, as it adds a lot of value and helps you understand what you are seeing. Also, use the map wisely and focus on key locations, especially the areas with the human casts and major buildings. Trying to see everything can be exhausting and honestly not worth it. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and plan your route in advance. Pompeii is an incredible place, but pacing yourself makes the experience far more enjoyable. Overall, it was a fascinating visit and absolutely worth seeing, especially if you go prepared.
