If you're planning a trip to Riga, you should definitely visit the Central Market. This market spans several halls as well as numerous stalls outside the halls and is open every day of the week. Here you'll find everything you'd expect from a market. An incredibly wide selection of fish, meat, vegetables, handicrafts, and general merchandise awaits you. The market is easily accessible on foot from the city center, and all public transport connections are nearby. Take your time, as there's plenty to discover. Enjoy!

What a fantastic location. Built in old zeppelin hangers this market was once and potentially still is the best market in Europe. Hangers are split by product type. We started at the food hall in the middle and tried a range of local food and beer. Well worth the visit.

The central market in winter is cool, clean and a vibrant spot. Each warehouse is divided up well, seafood area with caviar! Cheese, bakes with a great food spot and finally a meats section with groceries. Worth while a visit as a tourist to find some souvenirs too!

It might be one of the biggest food markets in Europe but it doesnt offer even half of what you will find on good Spanish food markets. My main disappointment was number of places to eat and enjoy the local food - we only saw a few places in the first hangar and their offer was rather poor. It must be a great place for the locals to supply themselves with fresh food, no doubt about that. But I would not list it in one of the top tourist attractions (unless summer time is better).

If you like great food at a reasonable price, the central market is waiting for you. SO MUCH FOOD! Everything was fresh and was as alluring to the nose as it was to the palate. So much variety, you will hardly know where to start. It's even fun if you're not hungry... just walk around and take it all in. Definitely recommend!
