This Shodo calligraphy class offers a unique and immersive cultural experience designed to delight participants of all ages and skill levels. Under the guidance of an experienced Shodo teacher, you will be led step by step through the art of traditional Japanese calligraphy, allowing you to enjoy the practice even if it is your first time. Part of the experience emphasizes patience and mindfulness, encouraging participants to slow down and fully engage with the creative process. You will be accompanied by a skilled English-Japanese or Chinese-Japanese translator to ensure that every instruction and detail is clearly understood, making it easy to ask questions and gain a deeper appreciation of this refined art form. The class is also family-friendly, allowing you to share the joy of Shodo with your child and create lasting memories together.
Adding to the special charm of the experience, the teacher will craft a personalized keepsake by writing the participants’ foreign names in kanji on wooden tags, creating a unique memento of the class. You will also have the opportunity to dress in traditional attire, whether a graceful kimono as a Yamato Nadeshiko or the outfit of a courageous samurai, and have your photograph taken alongside your artwork. To make the experience even more memorable, the calligraphy master will carefully inscribe the character you practiced on a special bag, which you will take home as a souvenir along with your artwork. This thoughtful gift, combined with the hands-on instruction, cultural immersion, and professional guidance, ensures that each participant leaves the class with not only a beautiful creation but also a meaningful connection to the rich tradition of Japanese calligraphy and heritage.

Customer Reviews

It was a truly wonderful experience. We participated in the tea ceremony, calligraphy, kimono dressing, and samurai armor experience. The professional instructors explained everything very carefully, and even as complete beginners, we were able to easily understand Japanese culture and enjoy hands-on experiences. The samurai show was incredibly powerful, and we even had the opportunity to try cutting like a real samurai, which was unforgettable. No matter where we took photos inside the facility, everything looked beautiful. All of the staff members were kind and welcoming, and they were fluent not only in Japanese and English, but also in Chinese. I believe this makes the experience enjoyable for visitors from all over the world. We highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in Japanese culture.

This is such a cool and fun cultural experience that everyone should do if you are in Osaka! You get to wear Samurai armor or a kimono, watch shows and get to play with the swords/instruments, learn kaligraphy, and have a japanese tea ceremony. This place allows for learning and experiencing lots of japanese culture all in the same facility. The facility is very clean, beautiful, and has a lot of space, especially for Japan. The staff also speak great english and take many photos and videos of you during the experience. Definitely a can't miss experience in Japan!

This was an unforgettable experience for us. The instrument performers were of a very high standard and played with their souls. The samurai fight show was impressive. The venue is very intimate and we were only a couple of meters from the performance. The tea ceremony was beautiful and enlightening, we felt so welcome and yet it is so elegant and peaceful. The calligraphy was a blast, even my uber caggy hand partner produced something presentable and we have beautiful pictures for our home, and we had a few laughs along the way. Everyone in the venue was so kind and commited to their culture, and excelled at what they did. They even lined up from the top of the stairs to say goodbye. A M A Z I NG.
