Another great little port we stopped at during the cruise. Wandering around the streets just soaking up all the sites and sounds. There were tours to Pisa and Florence organised by the cruise company but frankly they were so expensive and the feed back we got was not good so I would advise not taking them up. For example a tour to a nearby beach was £31 each which was only a few miles away.
It is the gateway to the Ligurian cost with cruise and ferry services. It is the hub for excursions to Cinque Terre, Pisa, and Florence for those who are using sea cruises. However, the port is a bit crowded and far from the landmarks and transportation to such attractions involves long travel times which might be inconvenient for some travelers.
My review is about the trolley at the cruise port. The trolley says… Confartigianato Imprese We came in on a ship and wanted to go to the train station. At the moment there were no cabs waiting and the man running the trolley lied when he said the cabs weren’t running that day. They were. He said 5 euros each to the train and they were leaving immediately. 20 minutes later we sat there waiting for him to fill the seats. We finally said, leave now or we want our money back. By now 10 taxis had returned. We left. Drove about 5 mph, could not go on major roads so it took forever and he finally stopped in the middle of the road and shouted “get out” We asked, where’s the station? 4 blocks up a hill!!!!! Perhaps he wasn’t allowed up there. I am not sure this is the correct place to report this but I hope someone can post it so others are not cheated and inconvenienced as we were.
